How much does a custom cake cost?
Prices vary based on design complexity. It is driven by four main factors: Design, size of cake, specialised ingredients and service required.

What affects the price?
1. Design complexity
A clean cake with simple details takes less time. A cake with sculpted elements, hand painted detail, sugar work, tiering or surprise features takes many extra hours. Time and skill are the biggest part of custom pricing.
2. Size and servings
More guests means more cake, more structure and more finishing work. A single tier cake for a small group costs less than a multi tier centrepiece for a large event.
3. Specialised ingredients (including dietary inclusive work)
Dietary requirements often need specific ingredients and extra handling to keep everyone safe and the cake tasting amazing. I treat dietary inclusive options as part of the custom experience, not an afterthought.
4. Service and set up
Pricing also depends on the level of service you need. Some cakes are picked up from my studio with minimal design changes once we agree on the concept. Others require extra design development, on site set up, styling and delivery at a specific time. The more support and handling a cake needs, the more it will affect the final price.
Realistic Perth Price Ranges
To give you a clear expectation:
- Smaller, simpler customisable styles often start around $180 to $250.
- Fully custom celebration cakes commonly sit in the low hundreds and increase with size and detail. Many Perth custom cakes fall roughly in the $200 to $600 range depending on scope.
- Wedding cakes scale higher because of engineering, transport, display time, and coordination with the events manager. My wedding packages range from around $650 for smaller weddings up to about $2,390 for larger guest counts, depending on size and inclusions.
